Are charity donations tax deductible?

You might qualify for a tax deduction on your charity donation

I often get asked where to put more money in order to get more back from the tax man.

Most people have some charity they are quite passionate about, and here below is some good news that you might not have known.

Registered public charities are always a good place to start, as the donations made are tax deductible (please make sure the charity you support is in fact registered and issues you with a tax certificate).

So how much can you donate and still qualify?
According to SARS you are able to donate up to 10% of your taxable income and still receive a deduction.
One such charity I am very passionate about is Hospice Palliative Care. They assist people who have terminal illnesses in coping and also assist the family on how to care for their loved one.

This year (2019) I will be running Comrades to raise funds for Hospice and also in memory of my late aunt Trix Loock, who many of you might have known personally. If you would like to support this great cause you are welcome to make a donation here (any amount helps).

If you would like to know more about Hospice and the great work they do, you can also visit their website here.
