Estate planning, beneficiaries and a will

Some interesting facts

I am currently busy with an estate for a deceased family member whilst busy with it I realised the vast amount of work required to settle a deceased estate.

And you might be sitting there saying, but I do not have much so my estate will be easy to settle and there is no need for a will… WRONG.

Another thing people underestimate is the nomination of beneficiaries on their policies. If there is no beneficiary nominated, then it forms part of the estate and attracts estate duty of 20% (if your estate is bigger than R3.5mil).

Although this is not a favourite topic to discuss, it is definitely one of the most important ones when it comes to your financial planning.

I urge you to get your will in place and not create a burden for your family, because without one your family is forced to make financial decisions that might not have been what you had in mind.

Please contact me if you have any questions or if you would like to set up your will or discuss the topic further.
