Timing the market? Retrenchment and ETFs

Timing the market?

Investors have had a tough 5 years and a lot of people are asking the questions of when is the right time to invest.

A lot of people are opting to move their money to cash (banks) and hoping to time the market when it is on the upswing again (Bull market).

But how will you know when the market has turned and when to get back in?

Although the above example is based on the US Dow Jones, the fundamentals remain the same.

Moral of the story, stay invested and stay the course. Make sure you have a goal in mind and stick to your goal.

Retrenchment has become a reality in our country, is it something you have thought about? Can it happen?

With Standard Bank closing 104 branches I am unfortunately inclined to say yes.

There are various retrenchment protectors, please let me know if you would like to know more.

Exchange Traded Funds

Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) have grown in popularity over the last 15 years, mainly because of their low fees and passive strategy.

Recently Stanlib, Momentum and Sanlam Glacier launched various ETFs on their platforms, if you would like to know more, please let me know.
