Happy June! How quickly has the year been moving along? In June, I like to reflect on the first six months of the year and assess my progress toward my year-end goals. How are you tracking your goals?
Warren Buffett announces his retirement
Warren Buffett recently announced his retirement at the tender age of 94, and he has achieved so much. However, there are some interesting things I have learned about him and from him over the years.
He is the world’s wealthiest investor, but not the greatest.
- He achieved annual growth over his lifetime of roughly 22%, which is good, but most people would expect a much higher growth (Jim Simons achieved a yearly average of 66%).
Consistency is key.
- Warren Buffett has seen it all. He started investing at the age of 11 and stuck to his investment philosophy for 70 years.
He made the majority of his money after the age of 60.
- The first few years of his life were spent learning the trade and refining his philosophy, and he earned his first $1 million at age 30.
Warren Buffett’s great success was mainly due to the power of compounding.
- He is an excellent investor, there is no doubt, but his time in the market (roughly 83 years) was a significant factor in his wealth.
If Buffett decided to retire at age 65, he would have had roughly $11.9 million.
- His current net worth is $157 billion.
- Time in the market is everything. High growth is great, but chasing high growth will lead to inconsistencies.

Warren Buffett still lives in the same house he bought in 1958. Here are some more interesting facts:
